Anthropic announced on October 14, 2026 that it opened an office in Singapore and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Digital Development and Information. The company says this is its fifth office in Asia-Pacific. The MOU describes cooperation, not an enacted law or a blanket approval of every AI use.

The agreement covers AI safety, security and model evaluation, research on adoption and its effects, and responsible adoption in public and private organizations. The signing took place alongside Singapore International Cyber Week. The announcement does not specify a procurement award or a public funding amount.

Anthropic plans technical exchanges with Singapore institutions on model evaluation, testing standards and incident response. It also describes plans to support AI skills, small-business adoption and public-officer capability. These are planned areas of work, not evidence that every exchange or training program has already been completed.

The company says more than 1,500 engineers and technical staff at GovTech Singapore have adopted Claude Code. It separately says the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore is exploring uses for cyber defense. Reported adoption at one organization should not be converted into a claim that the second has deployed the same system.

Anthropic describes use by DBS, GIC, Grab and other Singapore organizations and says regulated-sector customers can use in-region inference on Amazon Bedrock. The announcement does not replace a customer-specific check of region, processing terms, access controls or regulatory requirements. An office opening alone does not establish universal data-residency compliance.

The October 14 news is the office opening and cooperation MOU. The announcement is Anthropic's account of its local work and plans, not an independent performance audit. It offers no universal productivity guarantee, new consumer subscription price or date by which every government service will use Claude.
