Optional analytics
Next Tech Signal uses Google Analytics 4 only after you choose “Accept analytics.” Before you accept, or when you choose “Decline analytics,” our site does not load the Google Analytics tag. Your choice does not affect access to articles.
With your permission, Google Analytics processes page views and visits to help us understand which pages people use. This can include a cookie-based browser identifier, page path, referring page, visit time, device/browser information and approximate location. Google processes IP addresses as part of receiving requests; GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. We do not send newsletter email addresses, names, form entries or search query strings as analytics data. Google signals, advertising personalization and automatic enhanced measurement are disabled.
We use a basic consent setup, not cookieless tracking before permission. Our Analytics figures therefore exclude visitors who decline analytics or block the tag and should not be read as a complete count of everyone who visits.
Cookies and your choice
If you accept, Google Analytics may use first-party cookies with names beginning _ga. Our installation sets their lifetime to 180 days without renewing it on each visit. We also store your accepted/declined choice and its date in this browser's local storage for up to 180 days so we can remember your preference. This preference record is not sent to Google Analytics.
Use the “Privacy settings” button on any page to change your choice. Declining after accepting removes this site's accessible _ga cookies and reloads the page with analytics off. This stops future Analytics collection from this installation; it does not remove information already sent to Google. Clearing browser storage removes the saved preference. Preferences apply only to that browser/device.
Data retention and providers
Google's current property settings retain event-level Analytics data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. Aggregated standard reports are not governed by these retention windows. These are the settings checked for this property before installation, not a promise that all aggregate statistics are deleted after 14 months.
Google processes Analytics data under its Analytics and data-processing terms. Learn more about Google's processing and choices at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and https://policies.google.com/privacy . Google's Analytics browser opt-out is at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout .
Other site information
The site still needs hosting requests to serve its pages. Declining Analytics does not turn off those essential requests. Newsletter requests are separate from optional Analytics. We collect the information needed to respond to newsletter requests, and subscribers can unsubscribe at any time. We do not sell personal information.
Questions and requests
Use this site's Contact page to ask about this notice or request help with information you have provided. We will need enough information to identify and assess a request. Anonymous Analytics identifiers may not be identifiable to an individual person. This notice explains this installation, not legal advice or a guarantee of compliance in every jurisdiction.
