Apple updated Apple Invites to version 1.12.1 on October 14, 2026. The US App Store listing describes two additions: hosts can more easily add guests manually and mark their RSVP status, and the countdown widget supports an extra-large Home Screen size. The update also lists bug fixes and performance improvements without naming specific resolved issues.

The guest controls address confirmations that happen outside the app. A host can update the event roster when someone responds in another conversation or in person. This is manual record keeping by the host, not automatic access to private messages or a promise that every external reply is detected.

The extra-large widget provides another way to display an event countdown on the Home Screen. Apple does not describe it as a new event type or a change to who can attend. The release notes do not give a measured performance gain or a guarantee that a widget is visible on every device layout.

Apple says the app is available for iPhone models running iOS 18 or later. Guests can reply in the iPhone app or on the web from any device. Creating invitations requires an iCloud+ subscription; the ability to reply does not. The free app download should not be confused with free hosting without the required subscription.

The existing app description includes cohosts, event messages, calendar syncing, shared photo albums and collaborative music playlists. Those are broader app features, not all new in version 1.12.1. Collaboration with Apple Music playlists requires an Apple Music subscription, which is separate from the iCloud+ requirement for creating invitations.

This is a version update verified against the US App Store listing. It does not establish a new iCloud+ price, universal regional availability or automatic management of a host's outside conversations. Hosts still need to keep manually entered names and RSVP choices accurate, particularly when a guest changes plans after confirming elsewhere.
