Huawei said on October 16 that more than 60 carriers worldwide have deployed its Next-Generation WAN solution. The announcement came at the Net5.5G Intelligent IP Network Summit during UBBF 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
The product is carrier network infrastructure, not a new consumer phone or a publicly downloadable AI model. Huawei describes three main areas: network security, links between computing resources and automated network operations.
Huawei says its security design spans devices, links and services. It describes router threat protection running separately from the router operating system, alongside traffic inspection and automated threat handling. The release does not provide an independent security audit or enough deployment detail to compare protection across all carrier networks.
For AI computing, Huawei says its AI Fabric and network algorithms aim to reduce packet loss and improve utilization between computing resources. Its efficiency and cost figures are company-reported results from described deployments, not a guarantee that every buyer will see the same improvement.
The company also describes its One Map, One Brain network architecture as supporting AN L4 automation across fault handling, network changes, optimization and security protection. That refers to network operations; it should not be confused with autonomous driving or a general claim that human oversight is unnecessary.
The concrete update is Huawei's report of a larger commercial carrier footprint. The announcement does not disclose a complete carrier roster, contract prices or a common availability schedule by country. Network buyers still need model-specific compatibility, service terms and independent security evidence before treating the release as a procurement decision.
