MacRumors reported October 10 that Apple may announce a partnership with home-security company ADT. Reporter Joe Rossignol bases the possibility on several employment-related clues and explicitly calls it a rumor. The report does not establish a signed agreement, a launch date or a service customers can order.
The clues include Low Voltage Technician recruitment, some new hires being given work iPhones, and reported secrecy around their assignments. MacRumors says some employees and managers described non-disclosure agreements and that some hires had been shadowing other technicians. Those accounts do not independently prove Apple is the customer.
Some of the new hires told MacRumors their managers said the work would apparently involve home automation and in-home installation. The reporter suggests a possible role installing a wall-mounted Apple home hub or related accessories. That is an inference, not confirmation of electrical requirements, installation coverage or an Apple Store checkout option.
MacRumors says it is unclear whether a potential arrangement would include home-security monitoring. No subscription price, installation fee, nationwide service footprint, eligibility terms or customer-support arrangement is confirmed in the report. Claims of a guaranteed 24/7 monitoring tier were excluded.
The report also attributes uncertainty about the timing of ADT's Google agreement to people familiar with the matter: it might already have expired this year or expire next year. It does not verify one fixed expiry date. That claim should not be turned into a confirmed termination announcement.
Limits: MacRumors warns that the clues could be a coincidence. NTS is covering the existence and limits of this reporting, not announcing a partnership on behalf of Apple or ADT. The report does not justify telling buyers to stop purchases or promising that specific hardware, installation services or monitoring plans will be announced.
