Apple has increased iPhone Duo supply-chain orders by 30%, according to an October 10 report by Yan Cui for People's Financial News on the Securities Times website. The report attributes the information to Apple's supply chain. Apple has not confirmed these production figures in the sources cited here.
The original report says the total still does not exceed 10 million units. It does not provide an exact revised total. An order increase is a manufacturing-plan claim, not a count of completed phones, customer preorders or retail sales.
The same report says iPhone 18 Pro orders were reduced by 10% to 15%, while iPhone 18 Pro Max orders increased by 10% to 15%. It says overall orders for the Pro series are unchanged. The percentages apply to different models and should not be added together as a change in total Pro production.
On October 12, 9to5Mac covered the Securities Times report and noted that Duo preorders had not yet opened. The new account differs from the Nikkei-based component-cut report covered earlier on Next Tech Signal: Securities Times says overall Pro-series orders are unchanged, with a shift between Pro and Pro Max. These are different attributed supply-chain accounts, not a reconciled Apple production disclosure.
The original supply-chain report predates October 12 preorder preparation. It does not say that traffic in Apple's preparation workflow caused the order increase, and it provides no measure of that traffic. Claims about assembly yields, component shortages or internal participation forecasts are not established by this report.
The reported shift may matter to suppliers because it changes the mix of products ordered. It does not guarantee consumer demand, launch-day availability or delivery times. Treat the figures as attributed supply-chain reporting unless Apple or its suppliers provide confirmation.
