Apple has begun inviting selected members of the media to a product launch experience in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, as reported by MacRumors on October 15. Gurman described the gathering on X as an "all-day product launch experience" for touchscreen MacBooks, a new iPad mini, and Macs equipped with M6 chips.
Gurman previously reported Apple would introduce the devices "on or around" Tuesday, October 27, with an online video presentation plus a hands-on experience for media. His latest post fixes October 28 for the media gathering but does not say whether the announcements themselves happen that day or beforehand.
The touchscreen MacBooks are expected to be redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED displays, a Dynamic Island, and significantly lighter designs. While earlier rumors floated a "MacBook Ultra" name, Gurman's more recent reporting suggests the machines stay in the MacBook Pro family.
Alongside the high-end machines, Apple is expected to introduce M6 versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac. The new iPad mini is expected to gain an OLED display, a front-facing camera positioned for landscape video calls, and a redesigned speaker system.
All of the product details come from Gurman's reporting and supply-chain rumor, not from Apple. Apple has not publicly announced an October 28 event, and the company does not comment on unannounced products. Invite scope, timing and the product list can all change.
If the date holds, the event would land two days after Apple's reported October 27 window and close out a busy October that has already brought the iPhone Duo announcement and this week's Mac and AI updates.
