TSMC reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of US$46.72 billion on October 15, up 41.2 percent from a year earlier and 16.2 percent from the previous quarter. Its official earnings release also puts 2-nanometer shipments at 8 percent of total wafer revenue. That figure measures revenue share, not the percentage of physical wafers produced.
In its Taiwan-dollar accounts, TSMC reported revenue of NT$1,494.24 billion, net income of NT$763.06 billion and diluted earnings per share of NT$29.43. Revenue rose 50.9 percent year over year in that currency, while net income and diluted earnings per share each rose 68.7 percent. The different US-dollar growth rate should not be substituted for the Taiwan-dollar rate.
The process mix shows 3-nanometer technology at 33 percent of wafer revenue, 5-nanometer at 28 percent and 7-nanometer at 10 percent. Together with 2-nanometer, the company-defined advanced technologies, 7-nanometer and newer, accounted for 79 percent. The release does not disclose how much of each node belongs to an individual customer.
TSMC reported a 66.4 percent gross margin, 58.7 percent operating margin and 51.1 percent net profit margin for the quarter. Management attributed the business to strong demand for leading-edge process technologies. These are consolidated foundry results, not evidence of a particular Apple product launch, chip allocation or manufacturing yield.
For the fourth quarter, management forecast US$52.3 billion to US$54.3 billion in revenue, gross margin of 65 percent to 67 percent and operating margin of 56.5 percent to 58.5 percent. The margin guidance assumes an exchange rate of NT$31.8 to one US dollar. This is an outlook rather than a completed-quarter result.
What to watch: management expects continued leading-edge demand, including a steep 2-nanometer ramp. Buyers tracking chip supply should keep the reported node revenue mix separate from unreported customer allocations and yields. This release alone does not establish that any customer has exclusive access or that finished consumer devices are available.
