Xiaomi is building bridges into Apple's ecosystem. HyperOS 4, the latest version of its Android-based operating system, supports sharing photos, files, contacts and web pages between a Xiaomi smartphone and an iPhone, according to GSMArena.
The integration goes beyond one-off transfers. HyperOS 4 lets users view cloud photo albums on either phone, and a two-way sync delivers real-time notifications and instant message replies across the two ecosystems. The cross-system features require Xiaomi's connectivity app and a shared Xiaomi account.
HyperOS 4 debuted on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and began a broader rollout on October 15, 2026.
Cross-ecosystem continuity has been a persistent gap for mixed-device households and for switchers who keep one foot in each platform. Apple has historically kept iMessage, AirDrop and iCloud Photos inside its own walls; Xiaomi is implementing its side of the bridge unilaterally, which also means the features depend on Xiaomi's app and account plumbing rather than any Apple partnership.
The features were reported October 8, 2026; Xiaomi has not detailed per-market rollout timing beyond the October 15 wider release, and the sync's behavior with end-to-end encrypted messaging on the iPhone side remains to be seen in practice.
